Roger Pirot, who served as commercial director at Salomon from 1965 to 1980, has passed away. He was 93 years old. Pirot, who joined Salomon at the age of 38, directly participated in the establishment of Salomon’s subsidiaries in Japan, Switzerland and the U.S. During his tenure, the staff of the commercial department evolved from one to 260 employees. Pirot dedicated an entire book to the “Salomon saga,” as he called it. The volume, entitled “La saga Salomon, un cas d’école” (Kawa editions), was released last November. In an interview with the French newspaper Le Dauphiné on the occasion of the book launch, Pirot said that Salomon had “changed his life.”
