The UTMB family will be enriched with a new trail running event that will take place in Val d'Aran, in the Spanish Pyrenees, as from next year. The Val d'Aran by UTMB will operate as a partnership between UTMB International and InAran Sports, with the collaboration of Conselh Generau d'Aran. The first edition of the event will be held in July 2020, and the full course will be announced in August of this year, during the UTMB Mont-Blanc week. The Val d'Aran is located in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, with peaks rising to 3,000m, and has a strong cultural heritage. Val d'Aran by UTMB will be the fifth event of the UTMB family, the others being UTMB Mont-Blanc, Gaoligong by UTMB, Oman by UTMB, and Ushuaia by UTMB. As in all other “by UTMB” events, the finishers of the new event will be able to collect “Running Stones” and get a direct entry for the UTMB Mont-Blanc race of their choice.

Aerial tram crash in Italy kills 14
