Under the motto “Sport is stronger,” this week’s ISPO Munich Online ( Jan. 1-5) will offer a great variety of new products, market trends and networking. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss important social issues for the future from a sports perspective. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the show will be entirely digital. “We want to reach the entire sports community, from retailers to manufacturers to sports enthusiasts,” says Dr. Jeanette Friedrich, global head of the ISPO Group. The event is therefore divided into three parts:

(1) Market overview of innovations and new products in the Expo Area

The Expo Area serves as a virtual exhibition space for more than 500 international exhibitors from all segments of the sporting goods business. It is aimed primarily at specialty retailers looking for a product overview and inspiration for next year’s merchandise planning. All companies and their products will be presented in digital brand rooms. Visitors can connect with the contact persons from the companies directly. There will also be “digital special areas” focusing on innovative topics such as ISPO Award, ISPO Brandnew, ISPO Textrends and ISPO Digitize.

(2) Conference with interdisciplinary discussion on megatrends

The conference program offers more than 80 presentations and podium discussions and more than 100 workshops on socially relevant topics such as digitalization and creativity, health and sustainability. The interdisciplinary line-up of speakers brings together industry representatives and athletes as well as participants primarily from outside the industry, such as education and politics. Speakers include:

(3) Activities for sport and outdoor fans around the world

For the first time, end consumers will have exclusive access to selected content from the conference program: During the Free to Air Sessions, the daily openings (from 10:00 a.m. CET each day) will be streamed live with the subsequent keynote speeches and the interactive live pitch for the title of the ISPO Brandnew Overall Winners and the ISPO Award ceremonies in the various categories. With the Public Choice Award, an additional prize will be awarded by end consumers: until Thursday, Feb. 4, all ISPO Open Innovation Community members are invited to choose their favorites from all ISPO Award entries.

The Public Streams every evening bring sports to the comfort of the fans’ homes. The free streaming sessions will include screenings of the European Outdoor Film Tour (E.O.F.T.) and the Freeride Film Festival, workouts with Blackroll and Technogym as well as talks with athletes from the European Championships Munich 2022, Peloton, climbing star Adam Ondra, adventurer Eliott Schonfeld and other celebrities.

The Run for Good, the ISPO sponsored run to protect the mountains, is all about getting away from the screens, being active and doing good. This virtual challenge for all amateur runners will take place from Feb. 1-7. Instead of charging a registration fee, the ISPO team collects donations for projects of the Kilian Jornet Foundation for the protection and preservation of natural mountain landscapes.
