Messe München, the organizer of the Ispo trade shows, had record revenues of €474.2 million last year, generating Ebitda of €138.4 million. Its success had a spill-over effect on the economy of Munich and the state of Bavaria, resulting in extra revenues of around €3.3 billion for the hotel industry and other services. Messe München, which is controlled by the Bavarian government, admits that the cancellations of various trade fairs and congresses, including the OutDoor by Ispo fair, will “pose a considerable economic challenge” for the current year. While predicting a drop in revenues of around €240 million for this year, Messe München is capitalizing on digital and hybrid formats to make up for the cancellations, including the organization of the Ispo Re.Start Days on June 30 and July 1.
