Representatives from the sports districts of Montebelluna in Italy and Portland in the U.S. gathered at a round table at Montebelluna's city hall on Oct. 18. Organized by Associazione Calzaturieri Museo dello Scarpone and IPA, a body grouping local municipalities and professional associations, with the contribution of Assosport, the meeting was an opportunity to exchange views and launch new initiatives. The tight cooperation between private and public sector in the Portland district emerged as a model for inspiration to the Italian peers, while Americans showed a particular interest in getting input from the Italians' craftsmanship tradition. The organizers envisage implementing a collaboration platform between the two industrial clusters, especially at the training level for students and professors, who could travel from one district to the other to exchange knowledge and experiences.
