Sherpa Adventure Gear will host a reception to honor Dawa Yangzum Sherpa and Pasang Lhamu Sherpa on their successful climb of K2 in 2014. The event, where the two women will tell their story first hand, will take place at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in Salt Lake City, on Jan. 22, 2015. The First Nepalese Women's K2 Expedition 2014 reached the summit of K2 on July 26. Dawa Yangzum Sherpa is an athlete representing Sherpa Adventure Gear while Pasang Lhamu Sherpa is a brand ambassador. The two women, along with Maya Sherpa, became the first Nepalese and sherpa women to reach the summit of the peak, which is the second highest mountain in the world, with an altitude of 8,611 meter, and one of the world's most difficult ascents. Dawa Yangzum Sherpa is a climber and trekking guide, with a record of winning climbing competitions, and is also an ultra marathon and high altitude runner. Pasang Lhamu Sherpa works in Nepal and the U.S. as a a professional mountain and trekking guide. The expedition also aimed at raising awareness about the impact of climate change on the Himalayas.
