The 6th edition of Raid in France, the French round of the multisport Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS), will take place on Sept. 13-20, supported by Intersport. Named “Volcanoes to Camargue,” the track will go from Haute-Loire, in Auvergne, to the Grau-du-Roi in Camargue. The organizers of the event expect around 200 racers from 20 nations who will run the 580 kilometers of the race in teams of four, with at least one woman. Intersport, with its dedicated outdoor brand McKinley, has backed Raid in France since its creation, in 2007. Intersport and McKinley also partner one of the competing teams, one of the best in France, which is aiming for one of the five top spots. The athletes will not carry any cellphones or GPSs during the 5 days non-stop - for the quickest teams - and 7 days - for the slower teams – of the race. The teams are responsible for their own food and only sleep around ten hours during the whole race, which involves a variety of sporting activities including trekking, horse-riding, canoeing, climbing and rafting, among others.
