The European Outdoor Group and Afydad, the Spanish sporting goods industry association, have announced that Rick Ridgeway, vice president of Patagonia in charge of public engagement, will be a keynote speaker on the second day of the European Outdoor Summit (EOS) due to be held in Barcelona on Sept. 29-30. He will talk on “Moving Up Through Giving Back.” Jens Nymand Christensen, director general for education and culture at the European Commission, will make a speech on sports participation. Worn Again, the London-based company will make a presentation of its “circular” recycling technology for textiles. The summit is to be held around the theme of “An industry in evolution,” to discuss the rapid changes in the industry. The speakers announced for the two-day event aslo include Daniel Macaulay, founder and strategic director of Brandwave; Donna Burbank, managing director of Global Data Strategy; Nick Chiarelli, consultancy director at Future Foundation; and Jürgen Kayser, business development manager at Gamify Now. The event will provide includes plenty of networking opportunities, pre and post-summit activities and a tapas evening at La Fàbrica Moritz microbrewery. Delegates can register to attend the EOS on its website for €500, but the price will go up to €600 after July 22. Btwentyfour, which provides a platform to manage the supply chain, has agreed to return as a sponsor of the EOS, alongside Gore-Tex, Ispo, Black Yak, YKK, Camelbak, Ternua, Thule and a local governmental organization.
