The organizers of the OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen have established a new two-stage assessment procedure to select the winners of its OutDoor Industry Awards. They have also created a new category for start-ups, similar to the long-standing BrandNew Awards at Ispo Munich. Those who submit applications for the Start-Up Award get a discount on stand rental costs, and the winners will have a free stand at the fair. Effective immediately, companies are invited to submit their innovations for the OutDoor Industry Awards, irrespective of whether they are exhibiting at the show or not. As the number of new products submitted for the contest has continued to grow, reaching 329 in the last year, the organizers have decided to create first a shortlist of the potential winners through a digital process involving 12 judges in different countries. Only the most promising products will continue on to the second and final round. At that stage, six of the original 12 judges will assess all nominated products during a two-day session at Messe Friedrichshafen.
