The Italian mountain and climbing footwear specialist La Sportiva resumed production of climbing and mountaineering footwear at the Ziano di Fiemme production plant on May 18. In the initial phase, the 200-plus production staff (out of over 360 in the entire plant) will work in two shifts of four hours each, while office and marketing staff will remain in their home offices wherever possible. This should reduce the total number of people on the site. In addition to these measures, body temperature will be measured and separated entrances and exits to minimize the risk of contact.

Except for the closure during the first two weeks of the crisis, the production facility in Ziano di Fiemme has never come to a complete shutdown. A task force of 18 employees was recalled from short-time work and started a production line of 5,000 face masks per day for the Civil Defence Trento, while the R&D department worked meticulously on the development of the new Stratos mask. The Stratos is washable, reusable and also contributes to the sustainability of the protective equipment in this new phase. It is available in the brand’s online shop in May and will be delivered from June.
