Hi-Tec has announced a series of initiatives to help communities across South Africa. The company has donated a community gym for Mofolo Park in Soweto, in Johannesburg's metropolitan area, which is home to cultural activities. Also, the company has erected a 14-meter plant wall in Maboneng, in the heart of Johannesburg's central business district. In addition, Hi-Tec supports initiatives that help raise awareness of environmental protection issues, such as the one from Kai Fitchen, who through his expeditions hopes to inspire people to become conscientious about their actions on mountains. Fitchen, who was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of nine, climbed Mount Elbrus in 2010, making a dream come true, but he returned from the expedition in shock because of the litter he found scattered around the basecamps, which almost killed his climbing partner as they attempted to summit. This is the origin of Kape2Kenya and My Kape.
