The International Oeko-Tex Association, an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate and end products, has released updated test criteria for product certification based on its Standard 100. The updates are related to perfluorinated compounds, pesticides, colourants classified as carcinogenic and which are thus prohibited, organotin compounds, softeners/phthalates, chlorinated phenols, chlorinated benzenes and toluenes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, alkylphenols and alkylphenol ethoxylates, and flame-retardant substances. The regulations will come into force on April 1, after a three-month transition period. Further details will be provided in the course of a series of webinars that the Swiss organization will host in English and German on Feb. 3.
