VF Corp. has reported that it managed to reduce its carbon emissions by 12 percent between 2011 and 2015, well beyond the 5 percent target the company had set itself. More than half of the total reduction was made possible by the increased use of clean energy, renewable energy credits, and carbon offsets, the company said. The rest has been attributed to energy efficiency projects such as LED lighting in retail stores, changes in the employee behavior regarding the use of energy, and the use of upgraded technologies in distribution centers. VF's offices, facilities and distribution centers achieved the highest rate of reduction in terms of carbon emissions during the 2011-2015 period, with reductions of 30 percent and 25 percent, respectively.
