Continental is an award-winner of the 2021 German Sustainability Awards for its Urban Taraxagum bicycle tire, made from dandelion rubber. The product, which won in the Responsible Design category, was selected among 54 finalists for its contribution to the development of an alternative and sustainable supply of raw materials. The Urban Taraxagum bicycle tire has been on the market since 2019. It is produced at the Continental’s plant in Korbach, Germany. The German Sustainability Award, which has been held annually since 2008, is a government-supported, multi-stakeholder award that honors projects contributing to a more sustainable future.
