Jack Wolfskin is continuing its German digital #gobackpack campaign this summer, picking up on the popular vanlife theme. Together with the German social media influencer Anna Heupel and her team, the outdoor brand is converting a decommissioned fire engine into a camper van according to sustainable criteria. The vanlife project is documented from the purchase, conversion, electrical installation to the finished road trip and is published in the form of ten video logs every Thursday on YouTube and Instagram. According to Jack Wolfskin, the objective of the campaign is to inspire people to create their own travel adventures. In particular, traveling in a van offers the opportunity to discover destinations in one’s own country even on a small budget and to explore new places independently. It is no coincidence that #vanlife is one of the most popular travel themes in social media. And anyone who is in doubt that car travel and sustainability go hand in hand: For Jack Wolfskin, sustainability is at the heart of this very project. Anna Heupel’s team not only pays attention to the amount and type of materials used, but also provides valuable upcycling ideas and instructions. At the end of the conversion, a raffle awaits the community, where participants have the opportunity to win the newly converted van for a 10-day maiden trip.
