U.S. footwear brand Keen has been named one of the most admired companies in the U.S. state of Oregon in 2020 by the Portland Business Journal for the third year in a row. According to the 400 respondents to the annual survey, which was conducted throughout Oregon and southwest Washington state, Keen is one of the most caring businesses, particularly because of their commitment and support during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. When the coronavirus struck, the brand donated 100,000 pairs of shoes to frontline workers and converted a shoe manufacturing line in one of its U.S. factories to produce reusable face masks. To date, the company has donated more than 150,000 masks to its local community. To support its brick-and-mortar retail partners, Keen introduced initiatives that enabled them to compete more effectively. In addition to adjusting its terms and conditions to accommodate government-mandated retail closures, it offered a 12-part Zoom webinar series on “Digital Competition During the Pandemic.” Keen also created and distributed a best-practice newsletter for the reopenings after the lockdown, and designed and distributed more than 1,000 Fit Shield Stations to protect customers and sales associates during shoe fittings.
