Patagonia launches the “Vote the Environment” campaign, in which it asks customers to learn about the environmental records of the candidates for the next presidential elections in the U.S. and vote for the world they live in. To achieve the campaign's objectives, Patagonia has partnered with the rock band Wilco, the voter registration group HeadCount and the League of Conservation Voters. The company will also launch a Twitter initiative related to the campaign. The #becauseilove tweets will be displayed at Wilco shows, in Patagonia stores across the country and online at Patagonia.com, where people will be encouraged to tweet messages and images that complete the sentence “I vote the environment because I love …”, to express themselves about the environmental issues at stake in the presidential election. A special edition T-shirt is also being launched celebrating Wilco and Patagonia's support of HeadCount. Five dollars from the sale of each tee will go to HeadCount.
