The North Face, a division of VF Corp., has launched “Walls Are Meant For Climbing,” a new global brand campaign that aims at making the sport of climbing accessible to all. The campaign pushes inclusion and invites people to focus on the fact that walls are not meant to divide us, they are meant for climbing. The company partnered with climbing centers and gyms around the world to make Aug. 19 a global day of climbing, offering complimentary climbing opportunities across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the U.K. and China. To celebrate the launch of the campaign, the company will also be making a $1 million donation to The Trust for Public Land, a non-profit organization based in San Francisco, to support the construction of public climbing walls in less fortunate communities. The brand will continue to encourage people to climb through its “Never Stop” community groups, who will be offering regular climbing sessions for free in more than ten European cities. A limited edition t-shirt reading “Walls Are Meant For Climbing” will also be available.
