Earlier this summer, Merrell committed to take action to drive systemic change within its own walls and throughout the outdoor industry. To this end, the brand has identified its four strategic focus areas: Internal team and culture, strengthening voices through partnerships and storytelling, transforming the outdoor spaces to make them more welcoming, and transforming the retail industry and our industry to make them more inclusive.

According to its website, one of the first steps Merrell is now taking is a third-party culture audit to internally assess the current state of the brand and guide future plans. Merrell says this is just the beginning of “The Trail Ahead.” The brand will continue to make transparent its plans and vision for a better future by creating inclusive and fair spaces outdoors and in its own environment.
