WRAP, a U.K. waste recycling charity, has officially launched “Textiles 2030: UK Sustainable Textile Action Plan.” The plan, first unveiled in November 2020, has secured a commitment from leading brands and retailers like Asos, JD Group, John Lewis, M&S, Primark, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco, in addition to re-use/recycling organizations and affiliates. The new voluntary agreement is meant to accelerate the transition of the whole fashion and textiles industry towards circularity in the U.K. The agreement is to be funded by its signatories and government. Signatories will collaborate on carbon, water and circular textile targets while also contributing to policy discussions with U.K. governments. As part of the official launch, WRAP has unveiled the Textiles 2030 Roadmap, which shows what signatories must do to deliver the targets through key outcomes by the end of 2022, 2025 and 2030.
