Italy’s Technical Scientific Committee (CTS) has recommended tighter restrictions for ski lift operations connected with the ongoing pandemic. Ski resorts in the country are currently shut but are due to reopen on Jan. 7. The guidelines that regional authorities submitted did not fully convinced the committee at the end of November. Concerns have been raised in particular because of the similarities, and the associated risks under pandemic circumstances, between transportation systems like cable cars in ski resorts and buses or trams in urban areas, all of which leading to risky gatherings of people, the committee said. Regional authorities will submit new guidelines for review shortly, which the CTS is expected to evaluate at the beginning of the year.
