The North Face (TNF) has announced its new, free summer camp program. The purely virtual initiative, aimed at families, runs from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 31. As part of the summer base camp, launched by the TNF athlete team, participants of all ages will be offered new interactive activities with video tutorials every week. In the first week, the camp offers a course in adventure photography with Oscar-winning film director and professional climber Jimmy Chin (see video below), a program on geometric design with professional rock climber and the first female to ascend Ambrosia, Nina Williams, and a lesson in snack preparation with the climbing champion, Ashima Shiraishi. The second week will include tutorials on map making with ultra runner Coree Woltering, survival techniques with the mountaineer, Manoah Ainuu, and lessons in building backyard base camps with the ski mountaineer, Hilaree Nelson. Participation requires registration on TNF’s website, where each activity will be unlocked on the designated day and prizes will be available for participants. The activities will continue to be accessible for the community through the end of the summer.
