Germany’s Maier Sports GmbH, owner of the Maier Sports and Gonso brands and in turn part of the outdoor division of the Schwan-Stabilo group, is going live with the “Where-to-buy local” and „Shop Window” tools from software specialist Outtra. In view of the current business situation, the project, which had been planned for the long term, was pursued at full speed and the go-live date was brought forward in order to support specialist retailers swiftly, the company said. The tool allows end-consumers to search for local product availability of individual items and sizes at affiliated sports retailers, visible on the Maier Sports or Gonso websites. Neither brand currently sells DTC but offers links to online or brick-and-mortar retailers through the Outtra system. A newly implemented tool also shows alternative colors of the selected product available in stores - a benefit Maier Sports hopes will lead to more purchases, especially for the special sizes segment for hiking and cycling pants, an area where both Maier Sports and Gonso are well established. So far, around 1,000 sports and outdoor retailers are connected to Outtra, e.g. via the central connection of Intersport Germany and Austria. Activation of merchandise availability via Outtra is free of charge for the retailer.
